BIO
My name is Steven Fox and I am the founder of Next Gen Financial Planning, a fee-only financial planning firm in San Diego. Next Gen Financial Planning works with young professionals who want to learn how to use money as a tool to balance today’s pressing needs with tomorrow’s dreams. I'm a member of both the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors and the XY Planning Network, and also the 2019 President of the San Diego chapter of the Financial Planning Association. Pro-bono efforts to give back include serving as Treasurer and other functions for the non-profit Financial Independence Training, which provides financial literacy training to active-duty military members.
I've earned the privilege of representing taxpayers before the Internal Revenue Service as an Enrolled Agent by passing a three-part comprehensive IRS test covering individual and business tax returns. In addition, I am a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional – exemplifying my commitment to the highest standards of integrity and professionalism.
Prior to starting Next Gen Financial Planning, I served over 8 years on active duty in the United States Marine Corps. After separating with an honorable discharge, I attended San Diego State University where I graduated with honors while earning a bachelors degree in financial services, a certificate in personal financial planning, and a minor in entrepreneurship. I've also held positions with several other financial planning firms.

HOW CAN WE WORK TOGETHER?
The first step is scheduling a meeting to tell me about what you’re looking for help with, and give you the opportunity to ask questions about how I work with clients. There’s no cost for this meeting, and there certainly won’t be a hard sell pressuring you to hire me.
Even if you decide that you don’t want to work with me for whatever reason, I’ll be happy to help point you in the right direction towards somebody who might be a better fit. I want to make sure that you get answers to all of your questions and have confidence that you’re making good financial decisions now and in the future, even if I’m not the one helping you.
If you’re married, please schedule a time that would allow your spouse to join us. When I work with couples, I think it’s very important for both people to understand their finances and have the opportunity to provide input on important decisions.
We can talk on the phone, do a video chat over Zoom, or meet at my office in San Diego in Mission Valley.
